Kris Szabo studied Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University and IT Management at the Herzing University. He has spend a majority of his career in IT engineer and IT Security Analyst roles in both Enterprise and small business environments.
Kris has been studying Japanese on and off since starting at Johns Hopkins. In 2011 he started studying at the Toronto Japanese Language School (TJLS). His passion for Japanese culture and language has led him to be active in the Toronto Japanese community. You will find him at many events at the Toronto Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, and occasionally as a volunteer. In 2012 he began to volunteer on the board at TJLS. Kris has held positions of Webmaster, Communications Chair, Special Events Chair, and Secretary.
In 2014 Kris spearheaded the redesign of the TJLS website and the modernization of infrastructure at TJLS. Appointed as Director of IT he has since worked with teachers, staff, and the board to recommend technological solutions to streamline operations and maximise the ability of faculty form robust lasting relationships with the student body.
Kris enjoys reading, video games, anime, and you will very often find him watching movies at the Toronto Japanese Film Festival and JCCC Movie nights.
